Star’s Football Family
A beautiful weekend that I hope you had the opportunity to enjoy! The weather finally broke and the sun was out in force. It reminded me of a year ago to the day. Last spring we were in the midst of a conference championship run. The table was set as the 2,3,4 &5th ranked teams in 7A were scheduled to play at Northern Illinois University. Even though there was no state championship that year it certainly had every bit the look and feel of the big dance. I remember in our pregame vision meeting going through the different phases of the game and trying to be as specific as we could be.
- What will it feel like, smell like, and sound like on the field today?
- How will the beginning of the game go?
- How will the middle 8 be played out?
- How will the end of the game go?
The team was so locked in, I knew we had a great opportunity. It was “the MOMENT” we had been striving for since the pandemic hit. It was the culmination of all the daily investments and preparation. The likes of which I have never seen from a group. It was everything we teach, preach and build in our program coming to a head! The bell rang and the Stars answered with a dominant victory over a great motivated Wheaton South team. We would end up being the Conference Champions and finish the year off as the #2 ranked team in 7A state football. To me, there have been no greater feet achieved by a team in the history of our program.
This is a great reminder of the importance of the process, staying consistent long after the desire has gone away. Handling the hurdles that life puts in front of us. Remember that it is hard to play the game of football but even harder to play North Star football! It is moments like this that fuel me to keep striving for better, I want every player in our program to understand the journey is better than the destination but sometimes the destination is pretty dang sweet!

This class of ’24 do it all player has been one of the most consistent leaders during our spring off-season. Gabe never hesitates in to invest his time in the program. He selflessly makes connections with players from all levels. He has been a great addition to our leadership academy as well! Congrats Gabe

STARS SELFLESS SERVICE
SCN FOOTBALL will be cleaning their backyard this month. In 2015, SCN FB adopted Red Gate Rd from Randall down through 31. As the snow melts and the remnants of the winter surface, SCN FB will spend an afternoon cleaning the sides of the roads of trash and debris. The date is still TBD.
Star’s football would love additional philanthropy for March. If you have any ideas or access points, please email
