Coach’s Message:

Star’s Football Family-
As my daughter would say Wow – wee – Wow- Wow! This past week was one for the record books, it had it all. Drama, intrigue, and down-to-the-wire heroics. As have I said in an earlier newsletter, when each stakeholder of our program takes ownership of their role, truly amazing things happen. So often we look to social media or other entities to find examples of what we want our program to become. As I get older, I believe we can find those moments within. This week is no exception.
As you may or may not know, I have been out with Covid since Wednesday. (Thank you for the many well wishes) Obviously, not ideal for anyone and specifically not ideal when we have one of our biggest and most enjoyable team events about to happen that weekend. In 10 years, I think I can count on 1 hand how many program events I have had to miss. Needless to say, in our program we talk about our response and remaining positive through the outcome. Well, the time to respond was here. As our leadership team began to navigate around this problem the outpouring of support was truly humbling. Staff, parents, and players all offered their time and effort to help ensure the Pound 4 Pound Challenge could go on. I witness firsthand the investment our program is willing to make to keep our #1 mission in the forefront. The goal is to always deliver an ELITE experience. From what I saw of the P4P this past Saturday it was just that. Thank you to all who made it possible, specifically my staff who gave up a Saturday with their families and Trish Sharkey and Danielle Taormina for the hours of prep work and Saturday management that they volunteered.

POUND 4 POUND CHALLENGE
On Saturday our program hosted the 8th annual Pound4 Pound Challenge. Over 50 athletes came in and challenged themselves. The P4P is the apex strength assessment for our off-season performance training. Below is a snapshot of the action. Full scores and weights can be found on the players Google Classroom page.
IRON STAR FOOTBALL
With the dawn of a new year, I feel this is a great opportunity to reintroduce our Iron Star Values. As a program, our values have been and will always be the foundation of our belief system. Everything we do as a program is built around the facilitation of the message that our values deliver. At St. Charles North our values are known as Iron Star Football. Each point on the star represents 1 value. None more important than the other.
When teaching our values to our players we will focus on 3 aspects of learning and understanding.
Values: The “WHY” of our program
Standards: The “HOW” of our program
- Standards define how the values will be executed
Outcomes: The “What” of our program
- This is what can happen if our values are believed and executed with flawless detail
Value: SELFLESS
Standard:
Being more concerned with the needs and wishes of your teammates then your own.
Outcome: When we are selfless we will become servant leaders to one another. A tribe working together for a greater purpose. We will reach our team goals together!
You need to put the team first and yourself last. You work towards your team goals and not your own goals.
Ex: It’s not how many touchdowns or tackles I get but how many touchdowns and defensive stops we get. Do your part for the team! On the field, do your 1/11.

Platoon Challenge Update
Week 10’s ELITE LEADER is sophomore Hunter Liszka. Hunter is a 2 sport all-star. As the varsity kicker, this past season Hunter broke into the records book as the first sophomore kicker on varsity. He has quickly solidified himself as on of the top kickers in the state of Illinois if not the country. Off the field, Hunter is as good as they come. Accountable and interested in everything Star Football. As the Elite Leader this week Hunter exemplified our value of preparation. Sit back and watch this young man become a household name.
ORCA’S TAKE THE #1 SPOT
SPRING 7 ON 7 OPPORTUNITY
As we move into 2022, one of my goals as the leader of the program is to create more opportunities to play the game for our youth and in-building athletes. With that said, Mike Taormina and his I9 program have launched a very exciting 7 on 7 program that we will be participating in this April & May.
